Does Anybody Know - Part 1

e-mail sent May 6, 2002

To the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Labour, City of Toronto, Toronto Public Health Department, Councillor Ron Moeser, Steve Gilchrist MPP, John McKay MP, City's Peer Reviewer, West Rouge Community Association, Port Union Village Homeowners Association.

Does anybody know what was happening on the Manson Site early last week? On two separate occasions, site activity was taking place. On one occasion a site meeting was obviously in session, with about half a dozen people, all wearing white hard hats. On another occasion 4 people were seen on site, picking stuff up off the ground and putting it into bags - they were not wearing any protective gear, other than work boots.

Were these people inappropriately dressed members of the Ministry staff? Was the activity legitimate? It is my understanding that no activity is to take place on site until after the MOE's Environmental Audit has been completed. So, please, can someone explain what was going on?

If there has been any development, it is perhaps the appropriate time for a full Public Review Committee Meeting to update the committee members.

Mrs. Cowbourne, due to the Ontario Public Civil Service labout dispute that lasted for the past eight weeks, I was recently informed about the activity that you saw on the Yellow Moon Homes Inc.'s property.

I've been advised that the people that you saw on site was hired by the proponent to pick up garbage and debris. Please be advised that this type of activity does not interfere with this Ministry's audit process. Thank you for your inquiry.
