Anecdotal Evidence

Content of an e-mail sent to a candidate in the ward by-election:

At the All Candidates Meeting at the Port Union Community Centre on September 9, you stated that people who had bought houses on the old Manson site had been required to sign waivers (or agreements) that they would not construct swimming pools in their yards.

As someone who likes to think they have considerable knowledge and understanding of events relating to the subject lands, this came as a great surprise to me.

Is the source of your information anecdotal or do you have access to documentation to prove your statement?

Andy Bowers, webmaster at http://ccra.idirect.com

And the response was:

"The short answer is, 'anecdotal'. I have no written documentation. Two people told me this on two separate occasions while canvassing. I wish I could remember offhand who they were. I'm going to try to get back to you when I remember. It concerned the newer homes adjacent to the Manson site. I recall thinking the second time, and it was someone in real estate who said it, 'I should write this down' and I'm sorry I didn't."

Fair enough .... and if it becomes demonstrable, it will be published here.
