Sir Oliver Mowat
Theatre Provides Entertainment Value
A word in the
newsletter, even now, should still be said about the pre-Christmas student
production of the musical “Cabaret”, at Mowat Collegiate.
For a young group of
high school students, it was an astonishingly fine effort, not only by the
cast members themselves, but by the director, Ms. Shelly Meichenbaum, and
all the other people in the crew who helped put it together, not to
mention very good work by the large student orchestra.
Just a few days after
we saw “Cabaret”, my wife and I went to see another (and highly-touted)
musical, “Wicked”, at a downtown Toronto theatre. We both agreed later
that for just sheer entertainment value, the Mowat Student “Cabaret” was
really the better of the two.
