On Saturday June 19th.2004 our annual Heritage Day Festival will be held. It starts off with a parade along Lawson Road to Highland Creek Village. Festivities continue throughout the day. This is a fun community event for the whole family. Please plan to attend.

On June 7th I will attend a meeting of the Waterfront Trail working group. Work continues on the trail which now extends about halfway between Port Union Rd and Highland Creek. The federal government still has not advanced their share of the funding for this project. This lack of funding from the federal government will likely mean a delay in the completion of the project. This community has been very patient about the trail but the continual delay in funding from the federal government is unfortunate.

Our membership campaign is still underway. If you have not purchased your membership you can send in your payment to our postal address and we will see that you receive your membership. Thank you to all of the volunteer canvassers. Thanks also to all who have purchased their memberships, without your support we would not have a strong membership base to make our voice heard on issues that affect our community.

Ingrid Desroches, our communications person, will be resigning at the end of this month. Ingrid has taken on other duties and can no longer devote the time to communications. Thanks Ingrid for a great job. If anyone is interested in being our communications person, give me, or anyone on the executive, a call.

Ron Hughes a member of our executive is moving out of the community at the end of the month and will also be resigning from the executive. Ron assisted in planning. Thanks Ron for your help over the years.

The resignations of the above individuals means the existing executive have to try and fill the gaps. This is not always possible, which may result in the association being less effective in representing your interests. If any one is interested in joining the executive, please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

In July we hold our annual outdoor summer concert series at the Port Union Recreation Centre. These concerts are sponsored by CCRA for the enjoyment of the residents of our community. The dates of the concerts are noted on the newsletter cover. Grab your lawn chair and plan to attend with your neighbours.

This is our last newsletter until September.

Have a safe and enjoyable summer.
