p>Membership Campaign
This month our annual membership campaign gets underway. Be sure and purchase your family membership when the canvasser calls. We have a very large community association membership and it is important that we continue to have a large membership base. This strong membership base gives us the financial resources to undertake not only community activities such as the Summer Concert Series and Heritage Day but also allows us to obtain adequate representation for hearings related to planning matters in our community.
OMB Hearings
Speaking of hearings this month there are to hearing before the Ontario Municipal Board related to our community. One is on Monday May 12th, 2003 @ 10:00a.m. concerning 32 Irvine Rd. and the other is on Wednesday May 28th, 2003 @ 10:00a.m to deal with 22 Cedarview Drive. In both cases the proposed plans do not conform to the zoning bylaw for our community. Once again your association will make representation before this provincially appointed board to make a case to have the development of these properties conform to our community bylaw. Members of our community are encouraged to attend either of these hearings. They will be held at the Ontario Municipal Board office at 655 Bay St. 16th floor Hearing Room, Toronto.
50s Dance
Our annual 50's dance was held on April 12th, 2003. It was a great success. Thanks to everyone who attended and a special thanks to Joan Gruchy for organizing this dance.
Morningside Recycling Depot
The City of Toronto has reopened the Morningside Ave. Recycling Depot on a trial basis. It is open on alternate Saturdays during May (3rd, 17th, 31st). It will continue to operate on alternate Saturdays for 6 months after which the City will evaluate continuing it. If we don't use it we will lose it. The reopened depot accepts only items that can be placed in the blue or grey boxes for curbside pickup. Unfortunately items such as Styrofoam packaging, meat trays and plastic bags that were accepted at this depot when it was run by the City of Scarborough are not accepted at this depot.
Heritage Day and Parade
Mark down the date for our annual Heritage Day June 14th, a great day for the whole family, including a parade, games and entertainment. Our Summer Concert Series July 6, 13 and 20 has some great musical groups scheduled to play.
