We hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable summer

Looking over some of the events during the summer, on June 17th we held Highland Creek Heritage Day.  This is a great community event for the whole family.  CCRA is pleased to provide a financial contribution to ensure this annual community event is a success.

In July the summer concert series featured another line-up of outstanding entertainment.  CCRA is also pleased to provide a financial contribution for these concerts.

None of these events could happen without the involvement and dedication of residents of our community.  A big thank you to all who were involved in making these events a reality and to those who attended.

In early August long time Highland Creek resident Ken Morrish passed away.  Ken represented the Highland Creek area for many years on various municipal councils.  Ken remained active in politics until about 10 years ago.

Reconstruction of Meadowvale Road finally got underway in July.  Work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.  Once the reconstruction is complete the speed limit will be 40 kmph and a 3 way stop will be installed at the Bathgate intersection.

On September the 24th the official opening of the Waterfront Trail will take place.  Activities will take place between 1 and 3 p.m.  with the opening ceremonies commencing on the west side of Highland Creek and proceeding easterly along the trail.  This is a significant milestone for this community as the trail has long been a vision of this community and after many, many meetings and lobbying of various levels of government it will finally be a reality.  Special thanks to the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority for their efforts over the years to make this dream a reality.  Plan to attend with your whole family Sunday September 24th @1:00 p.m.

Over the summer our Youth director Paul Lewkowicz resigned from the executive as he will be pursuing further studies out of town.  I want to recognize the contribution Paul made on the executive and wish him well in his future academic studies.

Looking ahead to October our Annual General Meeting will be held Thurs. October 19th at the Port Union Rec. Center.  Mark this date on your calendar and plan to attend.
