On Saturday March 31st the CCRA along with the West Rouge Sports and Recreation Association will be co hosting a Wine Tasting evening at the West Rouge Community Centre. Our events chair Heather Lemieux has details on this event on page 4 in this newsletter. This is the first time we have sponsored an event such as this in our community. I would encourage you to purchase your tickets early as this should be a fun evening.
In late January I attended a meeting of the Port Union Waterfront Trail Committee. We were updated on minor items of work to be carried out on the existing trail as a result of the City taking over operation and maintenance of the trail. Plans are moving ahead on the implementation of Phase 2 of the trail from the GO station to the Rouge River. We expect work on this section will commence in the near future.
We hope you were able to attend the Town Hall meeting with 43 Division Police officers on February 28th. Hopefully we will be able to have more of these meetings within our community as part of an on-going dialogue between the community and our police force.
We are having discussions with the City concerning the subdivision application on Meadowvale south of Wanita. As reported last month this application has been forwarded to the Ontario Municipal Board for resolution. We will keep you informed of any developments regarding this matter.
The City has received an application to sever the backs of some lots on Centennial and Brumwell north of Lawson Road with the creation of a road (St. Magnus Drive) running north of Lawson between Centennial and Brumwell. The City will be reviewing and commenting on this application. At some point we expect a public meeting will be held to receive community input on this proposal.
